Installation from the CD - Windows

Simply insert the TC Smart Installation CD into your computer’s CD drive and a few moments later the installer should automatically start up. If for any reason it doesn’t, please do the following:

1. ★Open an Explorer window on the CD.
   

2. ★Double-click on the file whose name begins with “jre-” to install the Java Runtime Environment. If the JRE is already installed on your machine this will either update the installation or inform you that no such update is needed.
   

3. ★Double-click on the file “setup” or “setup.jar”
   

Now see the section “Using the Installer” below.

Installation from the CD - Linux

Before installing TC Smart under Linux you will need to install the following items separately, as the Linux versions are not supplied on the CD:

1. ★MySQL 5.1 or later
   

2. ★Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.6 or later
   

For example if you are running Ubuntu Linux you would need to open the Synaptic Package Manager and install the mysql-server and sun-java6-jre packages. Please see the help and documentation that comes with Synaptic Package Manager to learn how to do this.

Once MySQL and the JRE are installed, simply open a window on the CD and double-click on the file “setup.jar”.

Installation from a Downloaded Installer - Windows

Before installing TC Smart from the installer downloaded from this website you will need to make sure you have an up to date Java Runtime Environment version 6 or later installed. If you do not, please download the latest JRE from:

    http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Double-click on the downloaded file to install the JRE.

Once an up to date JRE is installed, simple double-click on the TC Smart installer you downloaded from this website.

Now see the section “Using the Installer” below.

Installation from a Downloaded Installer - Linux

Before installing TC Smart under Linux from the installer downloaded from this website, you will need to install the following items separately, as the Linux versions are not supplied in the installer:

Using the Installer

Once you have started the installer you will be presented with the installation wizard. Please follow the prompts to complete the installation. You can use the same installer to install both the Client and Server applications. By default it will choose to install both. However only one server is required per licence so please deselect the server (and mysql) packs if you are installing the Client on your second or subsequent PC.
